Greetings and blessings to you for a productive Friday. I extend special Valentine birthday greetings to my brother, Stanley Smartt and my favorite uncle, Arthur Houser, Sr. You are both so loved and appreciated.
Today’s power scripture comes from Matthew 25: 35-36 (NAS): “For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.”
Here in the metro-Atlanta area we are on the recovery side of another ice storm that surged through the South and Eastern United States. Our preparation this time around was more organized, uniform and proactive. Schools closed in sufficient time; many businesses allowed employees to tele-work; stores were well stocked; utility workers, road crews, police and first responders were highly visible. Aside from a few power outages, those in my area were none the worse for wear. As we look for the best of God in any situation, I was encouraged to see so many who performed random acts of kindness to assist others. Prior to the onset of the ice and sleet many of us checked on the elderly to make sure they had provisions; we ran errands; did shopping; picked up prescriptions and made necessary arrangements to help those without transportation or funds to be ready for the inevitable. I, like many others, cooked and distributed meals that required little or no heating in case microwaves and electric stoves were out of commission. While in the market I overheard people assisting others with suggestions and references to help ease anxieties or to just keep each other inspired and lifted up.
As we approach the weekend let’s keep this spirit-filled fire going. Seek out ways and people to bless with Random-Acts-of-Kindness. It does not have to be anything monumental or extravagant. You would be surprised how simple things can make the day special for someone. Pray and seek the Holy Spirit’s intervention. He will not only show you whom to bless but provide the avenue to accomplish the deed.
Every day is a good day it is up to us to make it a GREAT loved-filled day. Be blessed! Have a great weekend. See you on Monday. Dr. JoAnn
